Added Bootloader firmware & Hex file uploader

The RS232 Scanner consists of a Microcontroller and a PLD. With the recent addition of a bootloader to the firmware of the Microcontroller, updating the firmware can now be done without additional hardware. This reduces the risk and enables to add more features to the firmware when the need arises.

The microcontroller in the design is a Microchip PIC 16F88. Free design tools for this controller are available at Microchip.com. So when you are tired scanning the airwaves for GSM Activity, it is possible to re-use the RS232 Scanner board for other applications with the microcontroller without the need for an seperate PIC programmer.

All you need to do, is to upload the assembled HEX file to the microcontroller using the bootloader.
